Are there any real men out there???

I have reached the conclusion that there are no longer any sexy, handsome men in the entertainment industry. Would you like to know how I came to this great epiphany. Last night, while watching Heroes I actually became mildly excited at the sight of a topless Sylar. Don't get me wrong, the man isn't that bad, but he is certainly not Adonis-worthy. I've seen him in person...he's okay, but really, his ass is smaller than mine. Nuff said. So why should I get even remotely stimulated by seeing this man semi-naked?? Because the quality of man-hotness is clearly below par. Before you even start to squint at me and form the word RAF..., I ask you to stop right there and remember I am referring to MEN, not under 25 year olds who spend more time at their playstations than at, well whatever it is that men should be doing. Therefore, I will also omit my precious Charles Brandon (aka Henry Cavill) from  this category of manliness as he is but a mere 24 years old. Are there no sexy men out there??? I mean really, if I have to think about this, possibly the only men I find slightly attractive are Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond/Lost) who has that whole Messiah look working for him,  Zachary Quinto (Sylar/Lost) who is barely a man at 30 years old and still looks a tad too young to be taken seriously, Alex O'Loughlin (Mick/Moonlight) who would look infinitely better with a beard and long hair - too bad his previous life saw him a crooner in the 50s instead of a rock star in the late 60s/early 70s, Billy Crudup (why oh why can't this man portray Jesus??or Judas???), arguably Gerard Butler (when he has that I really don't take care of myself look going - otherwise way toooo metrosexual for me), and, of course, Oded Fehr think TDS = tall, dark and shrouded.  Aside from Joaquin, whom I definitely find attractive but not good looking, is there anyone I could be forgetting??? Clive Owen??? Maybe, but not really. Sean Bean??? Kind of plain. Olivier Martinez??? Too pretty. Stuart Townsend??? Again, another one who is too metrosexual for my taste. Colin Farrell?? Not at all manly, he is so cute he makes me giggle. Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo/Rome)??? Yes, he is sexy, but alas, not really my type.  James Purefoy (Marc Antony/Rome)??? Probably, but that whole image is ruined the minute he speaks. Vin Diesel??? He has the voice, he has the personality, he just doesn't have the body (or perhaps he has too much of it?? quidquid). *pouts*  What gives??? Are there no real men out there or am I just too picky??

Note to my friends - If you can think of someone that I am forgetting, please help me out as I am at a loss to find anyone I actually deem sexy these days???

BTW, this would be a moot point if I were living oh say 500 years or so ago. *cough*Chez*Giuliano*Rapha*Leo*cough* or in fictional Medeival-land *cough*Andre Marek*cough*.

The Perfect Guy? Wherefore Art Thou?
I know what you mean. There are definitely hot guys out there, but no one that makes me say yes, this guy is the definition of A Man. Prettiness is common under 25, and I've always preferred well over that age.

On Saturday, a friend of Tiziana's was shocked when she learned I've had crushes on guys in books. She insisted that was nearly impossible, since I hadn't actually seen them. Hello? Attraction is about more than appearances. Still, looks don't hurt.

I'd love to meet guys who are smart, funny, kind, reliable, hot, buff, with shared interests with me and a good income. Of course, if I did, he wouldn't be interested in me. Life plays such tricks.

Me too - Andre Marek (of Timeline - the BOOK VERSION NOT THE MOVIE VERSION - although Gerard Butler does an admirable job in role even though they completely dumbed down the character for the movie) is the perfect man. Of course he'd probably be even more perfect if he was a Renaissance and/or Ancient Studies historian but I'll take Medieval warrior wannabe. passable. Basically no man will ever come close. I'm worse with historical men though. As I've said on numerous occasions, unless he's been dead for over 500 years (with some notable exceptions - Rasputin, Jim Morrison, Donatien, and some of the French Kings) I'm probably not going to be interested in him.

You sound like me - we both suffer from the same insecurity. If you like someone you put them on a pedestal and think that they are so far above you they would never like you. It's very defeatist. We really have to stop thinking like that.
