Emma - I'm Intrigued

Office move, Olympics, US Open

YAY! I have just been informed that the office relocation has been once again pushed back from the end of September to the end of November. As much as I wish we had already moved this summer and got the darned thing over with already I had absolutely no desire whatsoever to move during my peak season of September. That November date is so much better for me. Everyone else is pissed - this is the second postponement for the move date. The Sport Alliance is technically almost half a year behind schedule seeing as we were originally slated to move in mid-July.   My only concern is that the new date is the end of November and who knows what the weather will be like at that time. Thankfully we don't have to physically move anything ourselves - the SAO takes care of everything for us.

Canada won another gold medal today in Equestrian. Another jump off only this time we won it. Bravo. Is it wrong to want to give the medals to the horses though - it seems to me that they deserve the accolades just as much if not more so than their riders? So Canada's tally is 15 medals to date - 3 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze and we are tied for 16th place in the overall medal standings. We still have some excellent prospects in the remaining events (particularly kayak) so I'll be keeping a close watch as the games draw to their conclusion. Of course I'll be watching the Spain semi final in basketball tomorrow - I'm curious to see what happens with Calderon. I haven't heard that much about his injury - hopefully he is well enough to participate. The big match though is the Gold Medal football game at Midnight. Thankfully I can sleep in the next morning (that is, if I am able to get any sleep after should Argentina win!!)

The best news of the day has been the US Open men's singles draw - check out the shiny new #1 seed name at the top of the drawsheet. *gushes* A decent draw for Rafa. He should have no problem making it past a qualifier to reach the 3rd round. Potentially Kohlschreiber in the 3rd round. Potentially Berdych or Karlovic in the 4th round (it could have been a lot worse!!). Potentially Blake Mathieu, Monfils or Nalbandian in the Quarter Final. Potentially Ferrer, Monaco, Del Potro, Simon, Wawrinka, Youzhny, F-Lo or Andy Murray in the Semi (personally I'm hoping for Feli to take out Murray, that would be oh-so-sweet). Djokovic is probably jumping for joy - he is on Federer's side of the draw. Hopefully the weather will hold up. I hope Rafa has a fun time in New York. Maybe Feli will drag him to see Hair in Central Park!

I saw Karlovic's name on that drawsheet and hoped for his quick demise as well. He makes me so nervous. I'd rather Rafa face Berdych in the 4th round than deal with all those aces.

Sorry about the gold. I think Canada and Sweden pretty much have to wait it out until 2010. We both do much better at the Winter Olympics.
