Do You Want My Brother to Come In and Help?

Put aside Bran's green dreams, throw away Sam's flirting with Gilly, forget Brienne's grand entrance and even disregard Tyrion's Machiavellian masterpiece of entrapment (OK maybe don't forget that one...it was sheer brilliance)...let's just put this week's episode of Game of Thrones into perspective…

That pretty much sums up the highlight of the show for me. Seriously though, Renly and Loras are the only couple that are alive (for now), together and happily in love. And they look so very good together. I'd use the term 'graceful' to be precise. I think Renly + Loras needs a tribute (in preparation for next week I fear)...perhaps Coldplay's Viva La Vida?

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the world
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy’s eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
“Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!”

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can’t explain
Once you go there was never
Never an honest world
And that was when I ruled the world

Way to go Margaery Tyrell. She is EXACTLY how I hoped they would portray her. Better than the book. Let's face it...girl is my idol. I'd be doing exactly the same thing if I were lucky enough to be in her shoes...or gown...or lack thereof. She pretty much has my dream set up going. In yet another clever change from the book - Shae is now Sansa's handmaiden. This move will make Season Three all the more palatable.

Next week: Perchance a glimpse of the haunted Harrenhal?? And THE PEACH!!!
P.S. Let Loras and Renly have at least one more week of bliss...for mine and every female fangirls' sanity.

Love the fade in...SIGH

I vote that "Best on Screen Kissing with Chemistry" period! Can we get this as a MTV Movie award and nominate GOT's Renly & Loras? *prays...alone*

Renly + Loras...there can never be enough. Sadly enjoy it while you still can...for the night is dark and full of terrors.
YES!!! Loras and Renly are brilliant together. Adding Margery to the mix was quite wonderful. Watching Renly squirm and listening to his excuses to not have sex with her was delightful and made my weekend!

And I also loved that Shae was made to be Sansa's handmaiden. That change was also brilliant.

Oh yes, please, let us have ONE more love scene between Loras and Renly!♥

Oh, the peach! XD
I was wondering about Margaery...since they have made her character older and wiser in the series I'm speculating that maybe the Queen of Thorns may no longer be necessary. I love Olenna...I always pictured someone like Judi Dench (circa Shakespeare in Love) in her part. But with a strong and clever Margaery, being portrayed by a reasonably famous actress in Natalie Dormer who will definitely receive more camera time, perhaps Margaery wouldn't need Olenna to help her deal with/face off against the Lannisters. Again it would be a shame to lose that great character of Olenna but I can see it potentially happening.

I am going to be jumping up and down for that peach scene. I just want to see Stannis squirm so very much. It is truly sad that Renly doesn't last longer in the series. He is one of the more enjoyable characters both in the books and the tv series.
It will be sad if Olenna is cut from the series, but I am sure many peripheral characters will be cut. (And at first I thought Olenna was responsible for Joffrey's murder, but when it was revealed not to be her, I supposed she was not that important to any of the plots.) Sorry for the spoiler.

Alas, Renly...I suppose each season of the TV series will end with the tragic death of one of the favourite, or most compelling characters. Do you think Renly's death might be delayed until the final episode? I do agree that the actor who plays Renly is magnificent in the part. He has given Renly so much depth that he feels like a real person. I have read about actors who inhabit their characters to such an extent that they 'become' them, and I think that Gethin Anthony does this beautifully.

In the first season, there was first the death of Robert Baratheon, then Ned Stark. Of course, Ned's was the more shocking of the two. In Season Two, I guess we could have the death of an unlikeable character such as Balon Greyjoy, or a fairly unsympathetic character like the Lord Commander of the Wall before we get to Renly. Or maybe there won't be a death in the final episode, although I think for dramatic effect there should be.

Sorry for rambling and for so many spoilers in this comment! O_O
I've read all the books so I have no concern about the spoilers.

Wait you've confused me...I thought it was insinuated that Olenna did poison Joffrey (well at least that she orchestrated it). Or did I miss something...didn't Littlefinger imply that Olenna was responsible? Or was Littlefinger responsible and just saying that? I truly can't remember.

I think they won't delay Renly's death...they have to kill him off before Stannis can attack King's Landing. In a way I'm looking forward to it just to see how they present the murder and also to see Brienne, Loras and Margaery's reactions.

I'm not sure if they will end the season with a major death...it may be too predictable to end it with another death. There will be so much activity with the attack on King's Landing, a death may not have the same impact it would at another less busy time. I hope they end with something positive like the escape from Winterfell (assuming most of the audience hasn't read the books they will likely be delightfully shocked with that turn of events).
I need to read Book Two again. But I think more evidence came out later on in the series that pointed to Tyrion having something to do with Joffrey's death after all. I'm not sure now, though. It wasn't anything concrete, but something I read between the lines and it may have been in Book Five. Gahhh. How soon we forget! :(

Yes, you're right about Renly's death. And now I've seen the previews of the next episode (thanks for that vid) with Renly and the peach, I suppose his murder will occur either tonight or next week, if the peach scene comes at the end of tonight's episode. I would dearly love to see at least one more Loras/Renly love scene. ;)

The escape from Winterfell would make a GREAT ending to this season! Wonderful idea. I hope they do it! ;)
