Arya - A Game of Thrones

Westeros update...

A Game of Thrones....

I just can't stop thinking about it. There is no way the series will be able to live up to my expectations. I just pray it is at least decent. It's HBO it can't be that bad, right? Anyhow, I came across what I believe is a decent summary of what the book is about for the newbs who may be reluctant to watch...

Seven noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue abound. The primary families are the Stark, Lannister, and Baratheon families. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard [Ned] Stark to serve as his chief advisor. Ned, suspecting that his predecessor had been murdered, accepts so that he can investigate further. It turns out more than one family is plotting to take the throne. The Queen's family, the Lannisters, may be hatching a plot to take control. Across the sea, the last surviving members of the previously deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also plotting a return to power. The conflict between these families and others, including the Greyjoys, the Tullys, the Arryns, and the Tyrells, leads to war. Meanwhile, in the north, an ancient evil awakens. Amidst war and the political confusion, a brotherhood of misfits, The Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and the horrors beyond.

The most recent trailer was released late last week...

Comments on the videoclip:
  • OMG...THE WALL (opening sequence)
  • Bran @ .25....sooooo cute when he chews on his lip...I don't think I'll be able to watch the scene with Jaime. I'll be bawling before it even happens just knowing that it's coming
  • Catelyn @ .44 - uggh, I know I should have sympathy for her but I just can't stand her character...just shut up
  • Jon & Ned @ 1min - "You might not have my name but you have my blood"...*gushes*
  • for niviene  @ 1:20 - cameo by your hot guy
  • Tyrion slapping Joff @ 2:09 - LOL, dumbass kid deserved it
  • Arya swordfighting @ 2:10 - you go girl!!

And arguably the best news coming out the George R.R. Martin camp is that book five of the ASOIAF series, A Dance with Dragons, has FINALLY been given a release date. In GRRM's words "Barring tsunamis, general strikes, world wars, or asteroid strikes, you will have the novel in your hands on July 12." I'm counting on it...I have already booked that day off work...LOL. This novel k is going to be longer than as A Storm of Swords (est. 1000+ pages) It has also been confirmed that all my fave characters are back (Tyrion, Jon, Bran, Arya, Dany - even the borderline cool characters are in it - Asha, Davos, Melisandre) with POV chapters....*cries tears of joy*  I'm missing some names though *cough* *Jaime* *cough* *Brienne* *cough*...but I think I can survive long as I get Tyrion, Jon, Bran, Arya and Dany back.

Coming soon (maybe I need a countdown for this one as well...LOL)...

I love the "my hot guy" reference <3 <3 <3

One can never get enough of Sean Bean's voice!
It has the same time slot as True Blood...Sundays at 9 PM on HBO. A Game of Thrones will premiere on Sunday, April 17th and run for 10 weeks. Once A Game of Thrones is finished, True Blood will return in Sunday at 9 PM time slot.

The fictional story of A Game of Thrones is best explained as a mix of the epic fantasy of Lord of the Rings and with the historical British War of the Roses. IMO it is light on the 'fantasy' element though - there are dragons and other supernatural creatures but they really don't play that big a role in the story.
What they are going to suspend True Blood to run this then that wise, if so wonder why they did that.....?
No they won't suspend True is scheduled to start up exactly as planned in June. A Game of Thrones will run for the 10 weeks between April and mid June leading up to the start of the new season of True Blood. Almost all the HBO shows come on Sunday nights at 9.
