2013...the year in film...

A look at the year ahead in movies. I pretty much want to see all these films at some point...whether at the theatre or downloaded/blu ray.

Jan 19: Mama (ooh the previews look sooooo good)
Jan 25: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Feb 1: Beautiful Creatures (I bet ten bucks that if Jeremy Irons has a son in this movie I'll wind up liking that actor....UNLESS its Sam Claflin...LOL)
Feb 15: The Seventh Son (haven’t heard much about this one…I need to see more)
Mar 1: Jack The Giant Slayer (I think the success of OUAT has carried over onto the big seems all they are doing is remaking fairy tales, NOT that I'm complaining)
Mar 8: Oz: The Great and Powerful (arguably, this may be the movie I'm most excited about)
Mar 29: The Host (on the fence about this one…the good part is that Saoirse Ronan is the lead)
March TBA: Trance....I don't think the formal release date has been set but it is rumoured to be coming out some time in March. James McAvoy...'nuff said
May 8: The Great Gatsby (one of my alltime favourite books...Leo as Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy…epic. That said, I bet this movie will totally pan and I will be the only one who likes it…and now the news that it's JAY-Z for the soundtrack?#*! Seriously?! Then again, its Baz Luhrmann)
May 17: Star Trek II: Into Darkness (I expect this will turn out to be the movie I enjoy the most this year)
May 24: Fast & Furious 6
May 24: Epic (cute animated film…may be worth a look although I doubt it could top Rise of the Guardians!!!)
Jun 7: After Earth (OK I really don’t want to see this but it is M. Night Shyamalan)
Jun 14: Superman: Man of Steel
July 3: The Lone Ranger (I’m on the fence about this one)
July 12: Pacific Rim (this one seems a bit much, not my usual cup of tea, but it is Guillermo del Toro and Idris Elba, so good stuffs)
July 26: The Wolverine
Aug 16: Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (please do well...mostly cause I'm waiting for the third book to be made into a movie since that was my fav of the series)
Aug 23: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (geez if they could have only waited one week to release this on the day before my birthday!!...Jamie as Jayce, at least they got THAT casting right)
Nov 8: Thor: The Dark World (with the ex-Doctor as the villian..., on a side note, really just give Loki his own movie already)
Nov 22: Catching Fire (please for the love of God don't screw this one up)
Dec 13: Hobbit II: The Desolation of Smaug (there be dragons!!!!)

Is it too early to state that my most anticipated film for 2014 is X:Men: Days of Future Past?
  • Current Location: my office
  • Current Mood: curious curious
  • Current Music: Bon Jovi - Because We Can
ya I'm on the fence about the Lone Ranger although I love a good western....the others are right up our ally!!!
Yes, I was surprised to see there are a lot of movies that look good and/or interesting this year. Oh well...that gives us something to do and to look forward to.

As for the Lone Ranger, I expect it will to turn out to be all about Johnny Depp/Tonto and I don't know how camp it will be which is why I'm so on the fence with it.
If Taylor Kitsch was in it I'd totally be into it....when is he going to do a proper western....oh wait maybe I can write something for him......*ponders this*
There aren't enough good westerns...period

You'd be better off writing something for him....there aren't a lot of great writers in Hollywood these days IMO
